Age relaxation of 5 years is available for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
POST DETAILS, ELIGIBILITY and QUALIFICATION:
- Research Scientist: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Sc.(Tech) or equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline (Geology, Computer Science, Disaster Management, Environmental Science, or Atmospheric Science, depending on post code), along with one year of research/work experience in the specified field. A Ph.D. in the relevant field is considered desirable experience for most Research Scientist posts.
- Junior Research Fellow: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech or equivalent postgraduate degree (or B.E./B.Tech for certain computer science posts) in the relevant discipline, along with a valid NET/GATE or equivalent qualification.
- Project Associate-I: First Class M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science or equivalent discipline, along with a minimum of one year of experience in plant identification.

NESAC Selection Process 2026
Selection for all posts under NESAC Recruitment 2026 is based purely on performance in the walk-in interview – there is no written exam or shortlisting test involved. Meeting the minimum qualification and experience criteria does not automatically make a candidate eligible for the interview; the prescribed qualification and benchmark are treated only as the minimum requirement.
- Only candidates who possess the required qualification as on the date of interview should attend.
- Students awaiting their final result should not appear for the walk-in interview.
- The prescribed experience will be considered valid only if gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
- Selection is entirely at the discretion of the interview panel based on performance on the day.

- Download the biodata format from the official NESAC website: nesac.gov.in/category/career/
- Type the biodata neatly in the prescribed format and take a printout.
- Attach self-attested photocopies of all supporting documents along with the original documents.
- Report directly to NESAC, Umiam, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya, on the post-specific interview date (10, 11, or 12 August 2026).
- Carry the original NOC if already employed in a Government/PSU/Autonomous Body, and a valid Government photo ID for identity verification.
- If applying for more than one post, carry a separate biodata for each post applied for.
